Detailed Description:
The GenderGrowth&Wellbeing™ scan can be conducted between 16 and 32 weeks gestation (after your initial NHS appointment). This reassurance scan focuses on checking the development and wellbeing of your unborn baby. This is also a great choice of ultrasound for gender confirmation – we can tell you the sex right away, or keep it a secret to be revealed at a later date.
During the scan, your fully-qualified obstetric sonographer will carry out growth measurements and weight calculations, establish placenta position and fluid volume, provide an audible heartbeat trace, and identify the position of your baby. All of this will be documented in the form of a Digital Foetal Assessment Report, providing valuable information for you to share with your midwife.
Your scan will be conducted using an abdominal ultrasound probe (external on the abdomen), and it is important to recognise that imagery obtained is derived from the reflection of sound waves passing through your abdomen creating the visual image. The level of diagnostic evaluation and visibility achievable can differ greatly between clients – especially in cases of a high BMI, which can result in poor image resolution.
Complimentary gender evaluation is included in this scan package. However, there are two conditions: at minimum, you must be at 16 weeks gestation on the day of your scan (as defined by your NHS dating scan) and gender determination is subject to your baby presenting in a conducive position to confirm sex.
Whether you’re booking an ultrasound for gender confirmation or for reassurance, we will do everything we can to ensure that your scan experience is a positive and memorable part of your pregnancy journey.
Secret Gender Option:
If you would prefer to find out your baby’s gender at a later time– for example, at a gender reveal party with family and friends – please make sure you select ‘Secret Gender Reveal Option’ when booking. When this option is selected, we will conduct the first part of your scan (the part where we check whether you’re having a boy or a girl) with the viewing screens turned off to avoid spoiling the surprise.
The viewing screens will then be turned back on for the remaining duration of your scan. Gender depiction will be documented on the foetal assessment report and an image displaying gender will be supplied on photocloud™. A complimentary Gender Reveal Scratch Card will be provided for the purpose of the secret reveal.
Please note
You must be a minimum of 16 weeks gestation as determined by your NHS dating scan for a gender evaluation to be conducted. An ultrasound scan cannot guarantee the sex of your baby with 100% accuracy. However, all scans are performed by qualified and highly experienced obstetric ultrasound sonographers who provide their professional opinion based on the diagnostic imagery obtained.
